GIRLFANS has carved out a unique place in football culture. Launched in 2013 by photographer and academic Jacqui McAssey, the project began as a direct response to the near-invisibility of women in fan media. Today, the platform has evolved into a co-led creative partnership with photographer and creative director Zoë Hitchen – one that’s rooted in slow media, inclusive practice and a genuine love for the communities that shape the beautiful game.
Sister project GIRLFANS UNTOLD is a publication featuring the experiences and recollections of older supporters using their own words and photographs from their personal archives. If you are over 30 and want to tell us your football fan-history, please get in touch via the Contact page.
